CHILD STUDY TEAM is a school-based problem-solving group comprised of parents, staff and supplemental service providers that address individual and school-wide issues. The function of the CST is to coordinate and integrate services and programs that address the underlying problems and barriers to learning. The CST also assists in structuring individual and school-based intervention plans that respond to the needs of the students, staff and families. It works as an avenue for proactive involvement and timely responses to staff, students, parents/families and community regarding progress.

The RESPONSE TO INTERVENTION (RTI) process is a multi-tiered approach to providing services to struggling learners. The RTI can be used for making decisions about general, compensatory, and special education, creating a well-integrated and seamless system of instruction and intervention guided by outcome data. The RTI calls for early identification of learning and behavioral needs, close collaboration among classroom teachers and special education personnel and parents, and a systematic commitment to locating and employing the necessary resources to ensure students make progress in the general education curriculum. Many government mandates are directing schools away from special education testing, and are looking for ways to assist students in the general ed. classroom. GPS has experts on staff familiar with the RTI process and can assist in integrating it into a curriculum.

COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT GPS recognizes the importance of proactively managing our clients’ compliance obligations. Our process for achieving special education service compliance begins with:

• Participation in training to ensure that we are always up to date on federal and state laws. We manage compliance on a daily basis with a computerized tracking system to project mandated deadlines.

• We perform quarterly audits of our files so our clients can be certain we are fulfilling our compliance obligations.

• GPS staff are thoroughly training and evaluated throughout the school year to ensure they are meeting performance expectations.

• GPS can also review student files managed by non-GPS staff and suggest the appropriate action required to remedy non-compliant files.
