GPS offers a many options to suit the needs of schools, parents and students.RtI (Response to Intervention), Data Mining,In-school tutoring, ACT/SAT prep and custom programming.

Response to Intervention

GPS embraces the Response to Invervention (RtI) model, now part of educational law, as a system of service dellivery. RtI uses evidence-based interventions, monitoring and evaluation for on-going tracking of individual students to make informed decisions about the student's educational and behavioral programming needs. This framework provides increasingly intensive levels of intervention to students who do not respond to conventional instruction. GPS is committed to meeting the requirements of the RtI model through Educational Support Team's (EST) oversight of procedures and fidelity of implementation.

Key components of RtI:

  • Using proven, research-based teaching methods and interventions
  • Tracking the progress of students receiving interventions in order to quantify the strategies being employed
  • Using data derived from monitoring student progress to make important educational decisions about students

RtI integrates high-quality teaching and assessment methods in a systematic way, so that students who are not successful when presented with one set of instructional methods can be given the chance to succeed with the use of other practices.

Data Mining

The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) requires all schools, districts, and states to show that students are making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in reading, math and another grade-based measure (writing, social studies, or science). Meeting AYP targets is the major goal for all schools receiving Title I funding.

Analyzing data

Schools need to monitor student progress to ensure that all students are successfully attaining state and district standars. Annual data only gives schools a snapshot of where students are at a single point in time, however. Teachers must know on a day-to-day basis where their students are in relation to the content standards to have the necessary information to appropriately plan instruction time. GPS works with the school to collect, monitor and report student data to esnure there is enough information to make decisions on how best to use instructional time, as well as to identify students who need instructional interventions.

Monitoring data

While teachers need to monitor progress of their students, schools need to monitor progress of their instructional program. GPS first works with the school to establish a clear understanding of what will be monitored, what is the criteria for proficiency, and that all students are held to the same performance expectations. We then will analyze data to diagnose student performance in relationship to core content standards, school learning outcomes, evaluate teacher professional development needs, as well as the ability to evaluate intervention program success or failure.

Tutoring

Tutoring plays a vital role in the educational process. It is our goal for all students to have the resources and instruction necessary to reach their full potential while receiving a free and appropriate public education.

In compliance with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (formerly No Child Left Behind) and the Individuals with Disabilites Education Improvement Act (IDEA), GPS is dedicated to meeting the needs of all students through programming for the individual.

Our tutoring program is a research-based, supplemental program designed to improve math and reading skills; build confidence and ensure academic success, enhance classroom performance, and increase scores on standardized tests.

Our in-school tutoring program takes place during the school day, and is a supplemental educational program that has a proven track record of improving both the academic perfomance of struggling students, as well as behavioral issues within the classroom setting by assisting the development of a more positive attitude towards learning. This program is a school-wide initative and is not available at the private level.

GPS is also an authorized SES program provider. If you are a school that is required to provide SES, let us show you how our program is structured to provide superior results. If your student attends a school that is required to provide SES turoring services, ask how you can choose GPS as your student's provider.

Our highly qualified staff will administer a comprehensive assessment in order to determine each child’s ability in reading and math. The child’s cognitive skills are also assessed to establish a realistic expectation for students, teachers and parents. Based upon these results, an individualized learning program is developed specifically for each student.

The GPS tutoring model focuses on academics and life skills by integrating activities and other interpersonal techniques.
