Turnaround

What is School Turnaround?

School turnaround is comprehensive intervention for a persistently failing school intended to produce dramatic short term results as well as develop the capacity for a long term upward trajectory.

How do we do it?

Our GPS Solutions Turnaround Team specializes in repairing or replacing ineffective district and building systems and developing capacity in people (leaders, teachers and staff) to ensure rapid student growth and long term viability. In a turnaround situation, buildings and districts must cultivate shared responsibility, accountability, and urgency and establish trust to develop conditions for success.

Turnaround schools must meet the needs of every child every day by developing data driven interventions that produce rapid academic growth, social and emotional health, and responsible behavior. Our extensive needs analysis ensures that we prioritize the highest need areas for each individual school or district and move school teams toward systemic change

What are the Intended Outcomes?

  • Rapid Academic Growth
  • Increased Student Proficiency
  • Improved Student Behavior
  • Improved Teacher Satisfaction and Morale
  • Increased Student Enrollment and Retention
  • Transformed Instructional Practices
  • Aligned Policies, Processes, and Practices
  • Culture of Improved Trust, Collaboration, and Communication
  • Strengthened Staff Capacity and Expertise

Why GPS?

The key to ensuring that schools have sustained growth requires a systems approach:  developing processes and practices with clear accountability measures and ongoing progress monitoring to ensure fidelity. Our Turnaround Specialists will help install the critical systems to build sustainability. When all systems are aligned and efficient, every single child will achieve the academic, emotional, and behavioral growth they need to prepare them for successful life outcomes.

Our comprehensive turnaround service often includes management solutions for a variety of back office needs including Human Resources, Budget/Finance, Operations, and Compliance.

Staffing

Many schools find it is much easier and more cost-effective to outsource staffing rather than to employ the staff directly. Each member of our staff is fully certified, meets highly qualified (HQ) status, and receives intensive support and development from GPS.

All of our staff uses evidence-based practices (EBP) in prevention approaches including (MTSS) and data-based decision making.
